The number of people who earn a salary through Amazon is up.
The company said Monday that it earned $2.4 billion last year.
That’s a 13% increase from the previous year.
The majority of the increase comes from its bonus program, with bonus pay for those who earn more than $1 million.
Amazon said it will pay its top performers $1,500 in bonus cash, and those earning more than the $1.6 million threshold will receive up to $1 billion.
Amazon said it also is looking to hire more employees in a bid to boost its revenue.
The new bonus program comes as Amazon’s stock is up 20% year-to-date.
The stock rose nearly 25% on Monday.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has called the company’s bonus program a “bonus for every employee.”
It also comes after other companies have come out with similar bonuses programs in recent years, including Nike and Google.
